"I saw that everything was going to be alright. It was alright; it always had been alright; it always would be alright - no matter what happened. I didn't just think this: suddenly I knew it. Not only was I no longer concerned with success; I was no longer even concerned about satisfaction. I was satisfied. I was no longer concerned with my reputation; I was only concerned with the truth. "

My mantra from Werner to create nothing and space for possibility

I developed this mantra during my EST years from 1982 on... I didn’t know what it was or that it was a mantra... My koan... I ended up visiting a Zen center in 1986 and that’s when I figured out what I was doing. I guess growing up with my dad, being a change master, moving over 60 times in my life, it was just part of who I am....

http://www.ipub.com/thomasgall/time.html

I kept saying over the last 20 years...."it’s not what's so, it's so what". Werner’s aphorism gave me these words to chant, to repeat everyday, for the peacefulness of a present mind in all my moments. Every time I worried, it made me peaceful. Every time I had to adjust to another move, it gave me strength to be the new kid on the block again. Every time I was alone, it made me have strength in being alone, the understanding that we are always alone, but we choose to be with other people anyways because it’s all about showing up. All this gave me understand in action without the constraints the past or my beliefs had on my greatest possible futures.

“The truth believed is a lie”, “but if you experience it” (Werner said), that was the truth, I just can't hold onto the perception of truth in my brain, so I must run with my assumptions for now.

My listening & speaking is always my spirit (me), but my actions are my pattern machine, so I must use my speaking in thoughts and words to correct that illusion that my pattern machine is me, the spirit of possibility.

Like my thoughts, my integrity is another thought, I choose to recreate it in the world every moment and I speak a mantra of a perspective of choice rather then decision

I am unconditional love, thank you for listening.

God recreates the world infinitely every moment of time forever and ever, there never was a past or future, only forever now’s, BE DO Have it all now, it’s your choice. My quote is “So choose again, choices don’t run out in life, only your decisions make you run out of choices.”

Walking through the solution

Hey group,
A bit of shameless back patting about to happen... and it truly would have never happened with Landmark.

3 years ago I chose to take a stand and be responsible for creating a strong solution to climate change that anyone could follow. Also to demystify the web of green options each person has in front of them.

It became a software application that took every known source on going green I could find and summarize it into one place. During this research I also did the math needed, so every action has a specific savings in $ and CO2.
Knowing that the average person does not have the same amount of time to educate themselves...I created an online assessment that would give the program clarity into each persons unique options and give a day by day coaching plan on how to green their lifestyle.
No matter where you are starting from...skinny or huge footprint.
I have just finished and launched yesterday.
I am going to market the complete program for $29 and give $15 of that to a non-profit also needing money to further their own Global Warming solutions. It took some time to build those partnerships but they are good and solid programs.
Here is a bit more information and the URL
Please support this effort and spread it out to your connections( if you find it useful)
This has been a labor of love and I hope you find it useful.

PS. I have a certain number of "free" memberships I can give if you need it just email me through the website or here on Tribe.
PPS . WE DO NOT SELL ANY PRODUCTS

Going Green Today is an in-depth online program that looks at your lifestyle and creates simple green living options just for you. We give you an easy-to-follow action plan that walks you through reducing your carbon footprint by at least 35% and helping you to save $2000 this year.

My wife graduates tonight... in Manila!

Everything's cheaper in the Philippines, right? Wrong! At least not in Manila. The Forum is more expensive there than here; equal to more than 3 month's wages for the average worker.

Despite that, if you've done it and worked with the tools it provides, you know that the Forum is worth almost any price if the game you're playing in life is worth anything to you.

The results? Well, we'll see. But she has already signed up for the Assisting Program, Forum in Action, and paid the deposit for the Advanced Course, if that gives you an idea of how she feels about it.

I can't tell you how pleased I am.

Another take on, "Dont know you dont know".. from the yahoo group landmark forum grads
Another transformational teacher named Lance Walnaue says it goes like this:

Unconscious incompetent (you don't know that you don't know)

Conscious incompetent (you know you don't know)

Conscious competent (you're thoughtfully actively practicing a new way of being)

Unconscious competent (you k"no"w longer have to thoughtfully actively practice, it has become second nature or your new nature)

Possibility Declaration: The Opportunity Within the Current Financial Crisis

Inspirtational letters from Lynne

The Opportunity Within the Current Financial Crisis

We now have the opportunity to live the most meaningful lives any generation of humankind has ever lived. The halls of power have managed thus far to keep the climate change crisis at bay, the species extinction crisis at arms’ length, and the social justice crisis as an afterthought. Now we can see that the financial crisis is dramatically different. It is lodged in the hearts and minds of citizens, and is in the face of leaders in all sectors of society. The opportunity in this global economic crisis is that it’s forcing us to rethink our relationship to money and life, and to confront not only the financial crisis, but also all other crises which stem from the same root — Scarcity. How can you use this financial crisis/opportunity as an impetus to live the most meaningful life of any generation?

New Years Nothingness

Its new years, but if you have done Burningman or Landmark, well, you pretty much are declaring possibility all year long.

The rest of society waits for this one day to create new possibility, then becomes confounded by the "it" which stops them later in the year from being that possibility.

But not the people of LandMark or Burningman, they work all year to create some new possibility to let loose on the playa.

If you have done LandMark, well, then your not just the type who's life is falling apart. You probably are the type that can do Burningman or your job and have an amazing life to live into all year long.

Still, understanding is the boobie prize Werner Erhards said, and often, because we know what we know that we dont know, we are still subject to being human.

So the task is what can you do outside of the box to create something for New Years because its new years and you will live into this possible future?

Spandana: An SELP project created to help school children in Bangalore

What Landmark Graduates are upto in the world is pretty global. Check this out:

When Vinay Nagaraju’s participated in the Self-Expression and Leadership program in 2001 he created project called ‘Spandana’. It is an NGO that works with under privileged children in Bangalore. Since it began in 2001, Spandana has gotten major global corporations such as Honeywell to donate to it’s causes, including first aid kits for schools, library augmentation, education supplies, scholarships and academic awards and prizes. The accomplishments of Vinay and Spandana have gotten a lot of attention from the local media in Bangalore and recently, Vinay was one among 100 young leaders from 25 countries to be chosen to participate in a Global Social Innovation Fellowship at London Business School.

Here is a story from the Times of India Banglore

London Calling
Four bright Bangaloreans are off to London to participate in a Global Innovation Fellowship programme, says Geetha Rao

They’re chock full of ideas. And the room fairly crackles with their youthful energy. These four are very unusual youngsters, who have accomplished so much so soon and in such uncommon areas. So much so, they have been selected to participate in a Global Social Innovation Fellowship Programme in London this week; an event jointly organized by StartingBloc in New York and London Business School. So what makes Vinay Nagaraju, Nitin Rao, Ashwin Lakshminarayan and Tristha Reddy different? Their aspirations and their achievements. Two of them in IT companies and two still students, they make up four Bangaloreans who have been invited to the event. They are among the 100 chosen from across 25 countries in the world. spandana.jpg

Vinay Nagaraju, 28, works with Honeywell Technology Solutions. His tryst with social commitment began when he co-founded Spandana with friends through which they work with two schools in Bangalore. They’ve stocked books in the library, sport equipment, and enrolled potential dropouts from slums, children of single mothers, in school. That’s besides helping raising funds for terminally ill and destitute children.

Ashwin Lakshminarayan, 24, who’s with Wipro Technologies, is a member of EKAVI, and through this international organization, he has been actively involved with village and school adoption in Karnataka. So far, it’s meant awarding scholarships to students, training teachers, procuring stationery and drinking water for these schools.

Nitin Rao, the youngest, is studying at National Institute of Technology, Suratkal; but when you hear him use words like grassroots innovation, concept notes, and micro-financiers, you know there’s more to him than mere swotting. He writes development-related papers for an MIT education startup The Spark Group.

Tishtha Reddy has just done her graduation in management and political science from Singapore, and will soon join Stanford University School of Education for her MA, because she wants to learn all she can about management in education. Not surprising since she comes from a family that’s into education in a major way. Later, she wants to join politics, because she believes that to make a difference, you must start at the highest level. But for starters, she has taught her servants kids some English and other subjects.

What’s special about them? They are from privileged backgrounds, and work tight schedules, yet make time over the weekend to make a difference.
Corazon de Vida: A Landmark Education SELP Project started in 1994

Corazon de Vida was created in 1994 as a Self-Expression and Leadership Program project by Hilda Pacheco-Taylor in Newport Beach, California. Corazon de Vida recently had its latest Child Sponsorship dinner and announced that it is now sponsoring 14 orphanages in Baja, Mexico.

“Delivering hope”
Corazon de Vida, an Irvine-based charity supporting the struggling orphanages of Baja California, is making a difference for forgotten children.

By Marla Jo Fisher
THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

A dozen small children clad in clean jeans and T-shirts press their faces against the chain-link fence, peering intently down at the busy highway below.

They see a bus turn uphill on the rutted dirt road toward them and all hell breaks loose.

“They’re here! They’re here!” the children scream, and begin running to the gate.

Inside the bus, the regulars begin gathering up their belongings, while trip director George Perez picks up the microphone and tells the newbies what to expect.

It’s 9:30 on Saturday morning, and the volunteer bus from Corazon de Vida, an Irvine-based charity, is making its monthly visit to El Faro orphanage in Tijuana.

El Faro, which means “The Lighthouse,” is one of the 14 orphanages in Baja California that Corazon de Vida supports, with donations that pay for food and utilities for 700 children. With no government funding, children’s homes here survive strictly on private donations.

After climbing uphill for a half-mile, the bus can’t make it back down the final steep dirt road to the orphanage, which clings precariously to a cliff overlooking the busy highway to Tecate. Instead, the 55 people aboard get out and walk the last quarter-mile, through a dusty, trash-strewn shantytown of shelters made from plywood and tin.

“Be careful when you get off the bus,” Perez warns. “The road here is steep and you can lose your footing.”

Roosters crow and scrawny dogs bark, as the volunteers kick up dust on the rutted track, hauling bags of diapers, laundry soap, mops and brooms down the hill.

This home, built on a landfill made from old tires, will someday slide down the hill and be pulverized on the highway below. Every storm, a few tires are displaced.

Perez and his colleagues at Corazon de Vida hope to someday raise the money to move the facility to more stable ground, preferably before an earthquake or mudslide moves it for them.

corazon-de-vida-kids.gif

But on this day, the 70 children joyfully pounce on the visitors as soon as they walk in the door. Some search out their favorite people. Others leap into the arms of strangers.

People have brought balloons, games, books and face-painting supplies. Visitors aren’t allowed to bring toys, because of the home’s extreme need for other, more basic staples of life, nor candy, which will lead to dental visits.

Mostly, the children just crave contact with adults other than caregivers worn out from cooking, cleaning and supervising.

“These kids are so loving towards us, it’s like they give more to us than we can give to them,” said Concordia University student Stephanie Warren as she sat on the dirt floor holding a sleeping child.

Volunteers aren’t allowed to be alone with the children, but they are encouraged to hold them, touch them, give them piggyback rides.

“Please do not take any kids home with you,” Perez jokes with the visitors. “I know you want to.

CHILDREN LIVING ALONE ON THE STREETS

No one is quite sure exactly how many private orphanages are operating in Baja California. Though these establishments are called orphanages, most of the children’s parents are alive. Some kids have been abandoned. In other cases, parents are simply too poor and desperate to keep them.

The Mexican government estimates some 6,000 children are living on the streets in the Tijuana area, though other researchers have put that count as high as 20,000.

Sometimes, kindhearted people take in one or two street children, then a group of siblings. Before they know it, they’re running an orphanage.

Children have been rescued foraging for food in the city dump. One woman took in three little girls she found living under a car after their mother died. Some migrants making their way to the U.S. leave their children behind at orphanages, planning to return someday to collect them. Other kids have parents who are prostitutes or drug addicts.

While the Mexican government will pick up street children, it must look for places to put them in private homes, since there is no government system of foster care. Adoption is difficult and discouraged.

“An orphanage is actually like Camelot – it’s ideal,” Perez said. “It’s the ultimate location.”

The Mexican family welfare agency, DIF, inspects private orphanages but does not provide any financial support. There are not nearly enough beds for all the children on the streets.

“The government won’t admit how bad it is, I don’t think you can get a straight answer,” Dick Hagerty, who was appointed in the 1980s by then-Lt. Gov. Mike Curb to the now-defunct Commission of the Californias, which looked at issues affecting California, Baja California and the southern state of Baja, Baja California Sur.

At El Faro’s ranch in the country, where teenagers live to keep them away from urban temptations, Perez found two boys from Orange County who had been brought across the border and then abandoned by their mother. “When I met them, I asked them, “Why do you speak such good English?” And they said, “Because we’re Americans.”

He arranged for the boys to be returned to Orange County, where they are living at Orangewood Children’s Home.

He also found a teenage girl, raised in Illinois but born in Mexico, whose mother brought her to Tijuana and abandoned her there. Wandering the streets, hungry and alone, the girl stumbled onto El Faro and asked for help.

Because she’s not a legal resident of the U.S., the girl can’t return, but Perez volunteered to find her family and let them know where she was. Now, an aunt is seeking to adopt her and bring her back to Illinois.

HER MOTHER NEVER CAME BACK

In one small, tidy dormitory at El Faro, the girls sleep on seven sets of pink bunk beds with worn sheets.

The lucky ones have pillows, under which they hide their meager cache of personal possessions – the only private space they own.

Some visitors have brought small plastic pencil boxes, which the children can use to store their cherished items.

Perez stops to talk to one child, who tugs at his arm.

“Her mother dropped her off two years ago and never came back,” Perez says. “She keeps telling me her mother is coming back for her.” He shakes his head sadly.

Six-year-old Lupita also demands his attention. She wants to go to school like her friends, but she can’t because she has no papers. Her father dropped her off without a birth certificate, which is required to enroll in Mexican schools.

El Faro sends its kids to school an hour away by bus, because the home gets a discount on fees. Although primary education is compulsory in Mexico through sixth grade, it costs about $80 a month to send a child to school including uniforms and supplies.

Children only go to high school if they have a sponsor willing to pay their fees.

The founder of Corazon de Vida, Hilda Pacheco-Taylor, knows all about the struggles that Baja orphanages face. Today, she’s a successful Irvine executive. But 35 years ago, she was one of those children.

“I was 8 years old when our mother placed us in the Puerto de Fe orphanage,” Pacheco-Taylor recalled. “She didn’t want to, but she thought we would be safer there.”

Her father, a barber, abandoned the family, leaving Pacheco-Taylor’s mother struggling to support four children by making tortillas. At 8, Pacheco-Taylor cared for her younger siblings while her mother went to work. But when her brother almost drowned, her mother thought they would be better off in a children’s home.

Later, her mother made her way to the United States and got work as a laundress.

Pacheco-Taylor lived in the children’s home until age 16, when she left the home and made her own way to join her mother in Orange County. The family later gained legal residence through an amnesty program.

Today, Pacheco-Taylor is vice president of operations for L5 Performance Systems in Irvine and married with grown children.

But she has never forgotten Puerto de Fe. On one visit, she discovered the home had shrunk in size and the children were ill-fed and tattered. That spurred her to action.

Initially, she intended to just find some financial sponsors. But she ultimately formed a nonprofit corporation that today helps not only her childhood home, but 13 others.

These days, people like George Perez have joined the cause.

A former computer consultant, Perez was dragged on a visit by a girlfriend years ago. Touched by the children, he began volunteering and ultimately sold his house in Los Angeles and moved to Dana Point to be closer to Baja.

Now, he works for the nonprofit, supervising the orphanage contacts, organizing cooperatives to get a better price on gas, utilities, milk and fresh produce.

On the visit to El Faro, it was Perez’s birthday and the orphanage gave him a cake, along with the residents who also had birthdays that month.

While on the bus driving down there, Perez got a call on his cell phone. It was children from another orphanage, singing him “Happy Birthday” en masse.

“I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend my birthday,” Perez said, beaming.

Hi Tribe,
I have been asked to help produce a 9 day natural building/permaculture event on a new piece of land just south of the Baja border.
I am looking for feedback on all aspects including value, interest and curriculum.
please respond to scottankenypdx@gmail.com
Here are the details...

Oct 27 – Nov 4

Imagine a revolutionary oasis built with your very own hands
as you exercise in natural building and whole system design principles.

Imagine a community of passionate people learning what it means to be human beings,
immersed in an environment of self-expression, of listening, and of appreciation,
while they build beautifully and sustainably.

Introducing GiraSol (Sunflower), a new permaculture settlement breaking ground in November 2007. We invite you to be a part of this amazing experience by participating in a nine-day course designed to bring you competency in Permaculture and Earthen Building Methods.

Imagine yourself as part of that community…Living. Building. Playing.

This nine-day intensive design/build studio will combine natural building techniques (cobb, adobe, stone, straw/clay, passive/active heating systems) with presentations, discussions, exercises, and fun field trips.

GiraSol’s ground-breaking workshop will provide training in regenerative village design, natural construction and permaculture theory while establishing the GiraSol information center through hands-on work. The design will integrate a century-old adobe structure into a whimsical new building, seemingly sprung from the canvas of a Maxfield Parrish painting.

Led by mOceaN (Mark Lakeman), Lydia Doleman and Martin Shulke of Portland’s City Repair Project, the GiraSol Intensive will take place from 10/27/07 to 11/04/07. We will be camping as a group in the beautiful Baja desert, and all meals will be provided.

Basics

Location: GiraSol is a 200-acre parcel situated in Valle de las Palmas (Valley of the Palms), about 20 miles south of the U.S./Mexico Border and 30 miles from the Pacific Ocean between the major cities of Tijuana, Ensenada & Tecate. This new Center is on a vast tract of beautiful land in the valley, along a road from Ensenada to Tecate which is currently under construction. This road will bring unprecedented real estate development to this relatively undisturbed agrarian area. GiraSol strives to be a jewel in the Baja landscape by providing an example of sustainable community design.

Course Description: You will receive training AND become competent in the following areas:

1. regenerative village design and earthen building methods
2. biomass accumulation and use, plastering
3. roof framing
4. integrated landscaping
5. water catchment, re-use, and finishing methods.

Construction will be accompanied by discussions of the ecological features and benefits of each building phase. Through two field trips we will explore the local community by travelling to a wildlife preserve and taking part in Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Daily Activities

6 a.m.
7 a.m.

transformation of education: human learning centre

www.humanlearningcentre.com

I am a part of a group of people, mostly Landmark Forum graduates, who are being the transformation of education in the world. I am in Vancouver, Canada and there is another group of people in Calgary, Canada who are creating community-owned, learner-led, learning centres to be open in September 2007.

Imagine a community of learners of all ages who are working from a foundation of nothing, of life is empty and meaningless, of 'there's nothing wrong,' of being perfect, whole and complete and of making a difference. This is what is happening. In an environment like this, children can be free from their past and be creating their lives in each moment surrounded by people who listen to them as a possibility.

Some of the visions we have are: global projects that make a difference initiated by the learners, businesses owned and operated by the learners, complete integration with the surrounding community, effective communication and social skills being foundational, all individuals being known for who they are and the gift they are... and more.

One of the purposes of this creation is to have it produce unprecedented results in education and to have it serve as a model for other communities bringing happiness to children all over the world.

We are looking for people to come find out more and to participate. In Vancouver, we meet on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Monday of each month at the Landmark Education office (1155 W. Pender St.) from 7-9pm. The next meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 13th.

Some resources we need are:
-real estate (a space, a property, a building, architects, real estate agents etc.)
-money: we need donors and investors, we need financial planners and experts in business
-educators, mentors, community workers
-promotional materials: graphic designers, web designers, flyers, posters, ads in magazines and newspapers, media coverage
-legal services, advise
-experts in the world of the Ministry of Education, Independent Schools etc.
-people inspired by what's possible, even if you have no background in education

If you have ideas, visions or anything else to share, or if you want to come to a meeting, or find out more, please send me a message or reply to this post. I'd love to have your contribution.

Parents of autistic children live with tremendous stress. They need biomedical information, as well as personal assistance. When I helped a mother put a shoe on her resistant son and saw him immediately rip it off and throw it across my waiting room, I decided to act. That’s why I, J. Michael Uszler, M.D., assembled a team of Autism experts to discuss new developments and coping tools for Autism and Asperger syndrome. You can attend this information-packed, online event in the comfort of your own home. The specific, insightful steps and new strategies will make an immediate difference in your life, and in the life of your autistic loved one. Experts are J. Michael Uszler, M.D., Jeff Bradstreet, M.D., Valerie Paradiz, Ph.D., Stephen Shore, M.A., Robert Krakow, Attorney at Law ...

Graduate Led Reform of Landmark

Hello Fellow Grads,

Landmark graduates have been getting together with ideas and proposals to reform and renew the Landmark experience, and I write today to invite you to join in.

Do you ever feel like too much is spent on guest conversations and wonder if it needs to be like that?
Do you feel like there's too much conformity or hierarchy?
Ever wonder what factors make it difficult for people to jump in?
Ever contact your center or Harry's office with a question and find the reply wanting?
Have ideas on how to improve the Landmark experience?
Are you willing to take action on a new vision for Landmark?

The reformers have identified sources and solutions for many of the things that turn people off to trying Landmark and many of the things that lead to people dropping out once they do try it. It's a group for people who love the education, and believe the organization could be much more effective in serving the it's current and prospective participants. It's a group for people who are willing to come together and stand as graduates for reform.

The discussion group has over 60 members and can be found at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/reformers/

Some core essays about reform from the goup's founder are at:
http://www.reformers.blogspot.com/

And the group created a petition with over 30 graduate signatories at:
http://www.ipetitions.com/campaigns/reformers/
Add your name if the call for reform and renewal inspires you.
The text of the petition will tell you something about the group as well.

I hope you will check it out.

Looking for Grads to stay with in Amsterdam

I'm going to Amsterdam for the first time in September! This is a big win for me, as I have recently expanded my coaching practice from the personal domain to the business domain. A good friend of mine has a company that is flying me to Amsterdam to do 1 day of consulting for their company and I am looking to stay for a week. I would love to stay with some Forum Grads. If you or anyone you know would be willing to host me for a week in September, I would be very grateful. Here's a link to my tribe profile in case you have someone who is interested.

http://people.tribe.net/jerryc

Thanks in advance.

any good landmark book recomendations?

so, with most religions or organizations, there are books that are published, there is the landmark education institute(i think) and programs for youth.

my question is, are there any textbooks? curriculum? or personal blogs of landmark transformations?

also, does landmark do any community outreach, public service? helping those who can't afford it?

My letter to my seminar leader

I had started taking Landmark seminars again after having been out of it for a few years. I have chosen not to register in the next seminar, and this is what I sent my seminar leader as an explanation:

Dear C*,

I have chosen not to continue in your seminar series, and I felt the
need to communicate why. You're always so busy at the end of class
that it's never an appropriate time to talk to you, especially about
anything that involves more than a one- or two-sentence exchange.

I am aware that I have a reason for leaving, and that reasons mean
exactly as much as I am willing to grant it, but this is something
that has been bothering me for a considerable amount of time. This
has nothing to do with you, personally - I think you're a terrific
seminar leader, with what seems like a boundless capacity for
understanding people and where they are at. Your listening skills are
exemplary.

I've sent two communications to staff asking for a conversation about
this (below) and I've gotten no response. Not a phone call, nothing.

I have become more and more turned off by Landmark courses, due to the
constant conversation about bringing guests. In the last seminar
(Money), I took notes on how many times we had a conversation that
centered around inviting people. This was either in the form of
announcements from the you or from staff members (of upcoming guest
events), or conversations initiated by you, the introductory phase of
the seminar where people share what they got out of it for the guests
in the room (before they go off to their intro).

Based on my notes in this one seminar, about 45% of the total time
spent in the seminar was focused on the guest conversation. The other
55% was spent delivering the actual content of the seminar, sharing
from the homework, and other sharing within the context of the
evening's lesson. On one individual evening, we actually spent less
than a half hour talking about the actual course.

Almost half of the time - talking about inviting guests. The more I
became aware of this, the more it bothered me. I was surprised to
notice, on a few occasions, you cut off sharing time so you could
"move on with the course." (Most of the time it was because a share
went on a lot longer than, I think, anyone had expected). But it was
shocking to find that the next conversation we stopped people from
sharing in order to have was about guests and inviting people. It
seemed to reveal, more and more, the true purpose of seminars. I know
it's a popular thing to say that the actual topic of a seminar is not
important - that just being in a seminar will give you breakthroughs,
but are seminars designed for people's ongoing personal
transformation, or simply to inspire them so they will keep inviting
people to guest events?

I know that seminar leaders have quotas they must keep in order to be
consider a "successful" seminar leader. I know that Landmark chooses
registrations as its primary metric for success. Having been in many
seminars over the past decade, I have discovered that the more
conversations a seminar leader has about guests in a seminar, they are
more often than not "behind" in their numbers. I have even been in a
seminar where the seminar leader (David) actually BEGGED our class to
bring guests, and even told us that he was down in his numbers. I
won't take a seminar from him again because of this. It was one of
the most disgusting things I have ever seen at Landmark.

And I have enough other seminar leaders to know that what happened in
the Money seminar isn't out of the ordinary. Seminars are a crucial
part of the Landmark business and marketing model. But I wonder if it
isn't possible for announcements - which are often disruptive and
unwelcome - to be handled in another way?

The Money Seminar was unique in that the homework was a bit more
vigorous and involved than in other seminars. I loved this. The
money game we created reminded me a bit of an SELP project and I
wonder if seminars can't be more focused on this. More time spent on
the homework, on the distinctions.

For me, and for my personal commitment to inviting guests to find out
about the Landmark Forum, I am not interested in just inviting for the
sake of inviting. I never have been very effective at that, nor do I
want to be. I don't think it's appropriate, or authentic. When I see
someone in my life who is in the head space where they can hear an
opportunity for transformation, I share. This may mean I got for
months without opening my mouth about Landmark. It works for me - all
but one of the people I've ever shared with has gone on to do the LF.

I would like the measure of success to be less about number of guests
and more about personal transformation. And these desires seem to be
inconsistent with the seminar program. I get very excited and moved
to action from the actual content of a course, and I've taken on the
homework in your seminars in a powerful way. But nearly half of the
time in class is spent on a topic that I have very little interest in.
And the value I derive from the half of class that is dedicated to
homework is overshadowed by the inordinate amount of time I must sit
through conversations about guests.

Landmark in Utah

Hi Utah,
My nameis Robin. I live in San Francisco BUT back i n 1986 I did the Forum in SLC and in 1991 was in the 2nd leadership program . Six of us....creating the first Landmark Forum in SLC. I did not have internet. I enrolled 25 people at a time in my home. I became the clasroom leader. I led to Jeff Wilmore who is now a Forum leader, Nancy Elders staff member and I too became a staff member in San Jose. Why I say this is SLC has been a powerful city for many years . Something is wanting to take it to the next level.I do not pretend to know what it is. I thought we did . We fulfilled all the requirements and yet it did not happen. I hope to return to SLC soon. My son and his wife are going to have my first grad baby. If having public converstions help I am all for it.
What I do know is Denver has specific measurable results that need to happen for you to become your own city. 2 Seminar leaders etc.It would help to know what those are. I will assist if I can.Love Robin Netto

Tuition to Transfer

Hi,

I registered and paid for the Landmark Forum course, however, I am unable to follow through and actually take time off from my new job to take the course. I don't see myself being able to do this in the near future either. There have been a lot of significant changes in my life recently. I will be moving next month and the transfer would be a help.

I'm offering the full face value of the tuition to transfer to anyone that may be interested in taking the course.

I'm in San Francisco, my friend works at Landmark and she can process the change so that the course can be taken at any other location.

Serious inquiries only.

Cheers!

Share from Laurie Olson; Unseen Value of Transformation

Dear All,

I had the opportunity a week ago to participate in a special event...the morning Bill Turner mocked a classroom to qualify to lead Seminars in SLC.

It was powerful on a couple of levels. First, the honor to listen Bill as Seminar Leader...he's been that for me from the beginning. Second, to be re-accquainted with the distinction Enchantment/ Disenchantment.

I had heard several people make the comment: "Landmark seems to work for some people, but it just doesn't seem to work for me." I have to admit, that I bought into that...it matched up with my nasty little business that I NEED to be special. That would mean that since it worked for me, I WAS special. What a load that is!!

Once, I got past that, I was able to explore what might be going on with those who made that comment. I wanted to be able to get into their world and relate to how frustrating it must be to see something so amazing working for others and feel like it was "out there" and somehow not available to me. I remember feeling that way when people would talk about miracles and gifts of the spirit and I just KNEW I would never, ever be able to experience what that was like. My participation in Landmark Education, kept reitterating that "anything I want for myself or my life" is available to me out of my participation in the Landmark Education curicullum.

So, I looked at what it might mean to have Landmark "work" and "not work" or not work as well as you'd like it to.

I have some conversations to enjoy with others about this, but this is what I saw for myself.
I was watching a tape with Harry Rosenberg, CEO of Landmark Education, and he addressed this concept by using the analogy of a truck backing up to me and dumping transformation on me. He expressed the desire to be able to do that if it would make a difference...he wants transformation for all of us that much. It's just that transformation doesn't work that way. Drat!! It isn't even something that we do...just tell me what to do and I'll reproduce it. I get it that this is the reason so many of us, with such diversity, can claim our own incredible individual results from our participation in the Landmark Forum.
Jenn Kuhlmann shaved 71/2 hours off her personal best running 100 mile marathons...I doubled my income; Jake A. spent Christmas in a designed environment of love that made room for his ex-wife, her boyfriend, Jake's girlfriend, and most of all daughter, Shalom;Jaime S. got the relationship of her dreams...what about you?

So, I came out of the Landmark Forum on the "pink cloud" of enchantment. I was lit up and where enchantment is present, there is also disenchantment. It's the front and back of the hand. People like me, want only the enchantment. When the disenchantment shows up, I shrink, drop out, disown and kill off anything that resembles that state or who and what brought it to me. It is my story that I am especially nasty about disenchantment because I can live with those rose colored glasses endlessly swirling in the illusion that there's nothing wrong...different from living from there's nothing wrong here...and staying detached from "living life on life's terms" like bills and work and reality. YUK. Reality, what's that? It's the balance of enchantment and disenchantment. That's what I say. And for me to be able to live in BOTH is an awsome opportunity. To remain in action when the enchantment has faded, and the disenchantment has me by the tail, is a brand new invitation to me. It was my pattern to drop out, give up, blame others and make the situation wrong, bad and sick so I had to get out of it. Now, I see what's available if I stick it out to the other side where the magic awaits and enchantment occurs once again.

I was given a CD from the Hospice convention that introduced a concept called Liminal Space. It intrigued me and I googled the phrase and the article that popped up is attached to this e-mail. I think you'll find it fascinating that there is now a word to describe what "free fall" is.
You are invited to join me again in "Liminal Space" on Wed. at Susan Saalsaa's seminar--The Landmark Forum In Action, classroom 9. It will be a special guest event. It starts at the workspace at 7pm. Come, even if you don't bring a guest. It is an opportunity to re-engage in the magic you took away from your Landmark Forum no matter when it was...The conversation will be spectacular.

best,
Laurie Olson

I am sure your dear ones have had an enormous impact. I have found that as unfair as it seems . Landmark has specific measurable results required to start a center. We had 3 Seminar leaders 40 ILP 1 SELP leader, Wisdom course. TMLP comm courses and still they require SMR'S. I found that in going from SLC to San Jose was not as fun. I loved that we were not a center. The magic and community that is present is very different. I look forward to being in a place where graduates really know "If it is to be it is up to me" I salute Susan And Rich for their love and pasion that inspires your community. Life is so great when we are up to something with a passion...You Rock SLC!!!!!

I get that the people connect must have a fee.

But why does the group discussion board have to cost?

Thats like Tribe asking us to pay for this service.

Doesnt LandMark stand for communication, why not make the communication part a lot like tribe, and let the other people connect services have a fee?

SELP share

Hi Cat and Heather Eryn and Kelsie!

Thank you for trusting me and taking on the landmark forum

First I want to say I honor the courage you have in undertaking the re-claiming of your values and life principles. As Cat so eloquently said “no ones needs it, it is a gift you give yourself”

It is a gift to have your boldness in my life!

Finally someone to call me on my shit! Ahhhh relief for those of us who slay our large egos daily....

Fear of success the great paradox-
As you all consider completing the curriculum for living I understand now how important it is to eventually get to it...(selp) self expression and leadership program:

over three months this course exposes where your stopped and you clear your own path, you become unstoppable as you move toward goals and dreams, possibility gives way to” how good are you willing to let your life be?” answer is determined by the amount of stops that one cannot even see yet fully, do to the fact that many of the stops dwell in the blind spots of our individual make-up so what stops you may not in fact stop others.

since you can't see your blind spots it is helpful to play in a place which has exercises and people/coaches around who are committed to exposing you to yourself, then your dealing with a full deck of cards so to speak...one way is the” interview” (clarity on how you actually show up for people in life) this changed everything for me…. the distinction community becomes a part of your life.

Again I could explain all this to a tee, but it's as similar, and as unproductive as telling a virgin what an orgasm is ALL about. it will be different for each person (non linear re-defined) with that being said, coaching an SELP allowed me to continue looking and being presented with what my stops are as I grew my games bigger, meanwhile supporting someone in their commitment of not being stopped by unconscious fears, which creates a continues conversation of goal achieving which I had resisted prior, my story of I’m not good enough was so strong that I always used to create things that were so big, that I would use the un-accomplishment as more evidence that I can't be successful which inevitably caused my fear of success. Vicious circle ah ha!

Introduction Leaders Program -- San Francisco

As graduates of the Landmark Forum, you are invited to attend the Introduction Leaders Program 4th Weekend Orientation.

The Introductions Leader Program is an incredible opportunity to be trained and developed inside the distinction of Leader. In this program participants transition from being consumers of this education to being leaders of transformation. You enter into an inquiry of what it takes to be a leader who can make a difference in the lives of others.

The ILP is for people who are interested in being leaders within this education and/or within your lives (you don't necessarily have to go on to become an Introduction Leader, although you will be someone who brings the being of an Introduction Leader to areas of life important to you). You will be someone...

- who can be with anybody no matter who they are being and make a difference with them

- who can generate enthusiasm and vitality from nothing

- who can invent contexts for the games that you are up to that transform the content of your day to day life, and has you win

- who is masterful with having conversations for enrollment and registration

- who is playing a critical role in the game of Landmark Education and the future we are living into: a future where all people have the power and freedom to live a created life that inspires them

Please join me at the San Francisco Center (44 Tehama Street) for the Introductions Leaders Program 4th Weekend Orientation on Sunday, January 22, 2006 from 9 am to 1 pm. You will get clear about what the Introductions Leader Program is, what it makes available, and if that isn't enough, as part of the orientation you will be treated to a medley of songs and performances that take you through the spaces of the ILP. How could you say no to that?

If you have any questions, please contact me through tribe. Please RSVP with me by Monday, January 16th.

Regards,
Cortt

TRANSFORMATION: CREATE YOUR NEW YEAR AT MY HOME INTRODUCTION TO THE LANDMARK FORUM

If you’re like me, each year around this time you examine patterns that have persisted over the years and set resolutions to break them. And if you’re like me you often end up making the same resolution the next year. Perhaps, it’s time to have a breakthrough in an area of life that is important to you for 2006.

In the Landmark Forum, you will get access to producing breakthrough results in your life where only repeating the past seems possible right now. You will discover a whole new realm of possibility!

Please join me for an Introduction to the Landmark Forum (led by me) at Studio 12 on Sunday, January 8th from 12 noon to 3 pm.

At the Introduction, you will have an opportunity to take an area of your life that isn’t working or isn’t working as well as you like and create a new possibility that inspires you and calls forth action in a way that was unimaginable to you before. This is the promise of this fun three hour transformational event! You’ll get all your questions answered and if you see the Landmark Forum as something that will make a difference in your life, there will be an opportunity to choose to register into an upcoming Landmark Forum.

Sharing a breakthrough

Loving community,
>
> I have just become more present than ever before
> of how a piece of my past has just continued to
> grab me by my core. I first want to apologize
> for my english that really sucks this morning.
> Maybe it is a result of getting in touch with
> early childhood moments in the french mountains
> where i grew up, memories that are setting me
> free right here right NOW
>
> The story goes as such, my father left my mother
> when I was about 9 years old. He took off with
> another woman. I spent 20 years of my life
> judging his actions (until the advanced course),
> I spent countless energy subconsciously fighting
> the meaning that I created and glued to his
> actions. I was 9 years old you see, and I was
> all of a sudden left with a mother a sister but
> no father. My father, my ally in the family
> disappeared out of my life one day. He was never
> around much before i think, but then eventually
> it happened, he vanished out of daily life, of
> family life. I do not remember much, but I
> hardened the day my mother took me upstairs in
> one of the bedrooms, me alone, not with my
> younger sister, just me, to inform me that they
> were separating, or that he was leaving. I don’t
> remember exactly what she said but I think I
> hardened right then, I took on the role that I
> had to make everything fine for others, that i
> should not matter because i had to make sure my
> mother and sister would be ok, that we will make
> it, that I would be tough and strong and a
> pillar…. a 9 year-old pillar with freckles and
> messy hair… I think I interpreted my mother
> taking me apart as an early invitation into the
> adult world, as a signal that I had to be
> serious from then on, that because of who I was,
> the older sister, I was invited to grow up right
> then, to take responsibility, take charge and
> not rely on others because back then it was my
> mother, myself and my sister against the whole
> world, surviving disappearance and loss.
>
> My life has felt like a roller coaster (without
> an ILP community...), i always felt that i was
> not proactively creating my life but that i was
> living in reaction, with seldom moments of
> freedom. And my energy would fluctuate so much
> and so many things felt like burdens... but i
> rarelly cried about anything, unless it had to
> do with disappearance and loss, feeling numb as
> often as possible to the core. and i never quit
> anything or anyone, other than myself... ouch,
> wow that's painful to see,
>
> Results, i have many degrees from prestigious
> universities, but no job (my act is "i'm
> not good enough" and so i can't do it and
> you will soon discover i am fake unworthy human
> being so why would i even humiliate myself and
> trust that i am worth something!?), i have felt
> alone, i have withdrawn (anyone noticed??? if
> you have not, don't worry i created being
> transparent decades ago!), i made men rule my
> life by handing my power over and created them
> as threatening creatures, potential destroyers
> of my life..., i have ripped other people from
> the opportunity of being contribution to me, i
> have wanted to die at times whenever someone i
> loved disappeared or even felt my life
> threatened when a guy would say he could not see
> me that day or whatever... basically walking
> through life with a subconscious radar finding
> who is going to leave me so that i can run
> towards them, try to fix my past and end up
> confirm my act! so past relationships were not
> that pretty and intimate.... and loving....
> forget about loving.... it was all the pretense
> of loving out of fear and anxiety...
>
> So last night and this morning circumstances
> triggered something in me, this realization in
> my whole being of what it was like when my
> father left. You see i can't remember much of my
> past, so i have regularly had a really hard time
> with landmark technology whenever we were asked
> to remember the past... i tried to remember,
> imagining things but not trusting myself... and
> today, i have finally gotten to an even deeper
> layer of it all.
>
> I realize that i love families, i love
> communities, i love sharing and intimacy (don't
> we all?), it gives me my life, and i am the
> possibilities of LOVE AND POWER.
>
> Today though, i am inventing a new possibility
> for myself and my life. I am the possibility of
> being community, being a free and confident
> woman, and being trusting that life is totally
> amazing and a teacher at every moment of the day
> or night and so worth lo/iving!
>
> This is a victory over my past because i don't
> have to make it mean anything when someone does
> not want to see me, it does not have to make me
> feel like i am unworthy of being alive, that i
> am unlovable. It means nothing about me! I am
> now free to trust that i am a great, loving,
> beautiful and generous human being who is
> surrounded by people who do love me and have
> shared that with me and now i am free to see it
> and take their love in without depending on it
> to feel alive! I AM ALIVE and CHOOSING TO TAKE
> RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT I DO WITH MY LIFE FROM
> NOW ON, NO MORE MARTYRDOM!!!!! and i can be of
> true generosity and contributions to others, by
> being loving to myself first! Today, I really
> get more than ever before the whole idea of
> "loving oneself first before being able to
> love others" principle in my core being so
> much, it goes way beyond any word i have ever
> used to try and explain this truth that i
> basically knew either intellectually or too
> sporadicaly. I am alive and loving, i then
> become a clearing for you to be the same for
> yourself and your life
>
> Wow that was a long share, thank you for your
> presence and your listening
>
> Loving Life Loving You

A created Life

I was assisting at the "A created life" special event. Gail led the seminar, it was fun and interesting. They used brain science to break down the difference between your self and the rest of you that runs your body/mind/ego/act/strong suit/racket or like they said the "IT".

At first I said, well, it wasnt me that's been running my life, it was it to blame. I thought, well I shouldn't blame it, but then it occured to me that if I blamed it, my automatic system, survival, prediction machine. Then I don't have to run my life with blame, I can distguish it from me, and recreate possibility, become a new way of being!

Now I just say, it was smoking...lol...but now I can quit and make it not smoke or not.

Which events do you attend?

...the Landmark Forum is remarkable, and there's so much to get out of it.

By Sunday night though, the saturation is pretty deep and it's hard to grip on to the new things the come in those late conversations. This is why I like to go to the Sunday night graduate portion of any Forum, whenever I can.

It gives me three great things. First, I am a different person each time I go for those Sunday night conversations, so they strike me differently each time. Secondly, the leader on any given weekend gives something different to the conversation, and even the same leader observed twice will give something different as a function of the participant population and the personal growth that leader has personally experienced.

The third thing is that when I come into that event from a restful day, I encounter the conversation very differently than if I were sitting in one of the chairs all weekend.

There are other really great opportunities to be a guest or a visitor. Besides the LF Sunday night, what other ones do you like to attend?
Introduction to the Landmark Forum in New York City.....

Hello, my Landmark community:

I am making an unreasonable request. I am requesting that you play with me in causing guests for an introduction to the landmark forum on next Monday, October 3rd at the New York City landmark center.

Who am I and why should you play this game?

My name is Wess and I am managing the existence of myself as a Landmark Forum leader. I originally did the Forum in 2001. I will be leading the introduction on Monday.

I originally participated in this work from January of that year until 9/11 (the New York Center at that time was in the World Trade). I stopped participating until I got involved again last year. Since then I have been a SELP coach, as well as an Introduction leader in Training.

I know for some people, my ‘testimony’ will occur as an infomercial. It is true, nevertheless. When I participated in the program, I was 300lb graphic designer who lived a life that was isolated from other people. When I did the forum, I saw for myself that I created the life that I had. I also saw that I could just as easily create a new life. In that space, I totally changed my physique and my career. I am now a fitness professional/model and I help other people transform their bodies and lives. I also got over my fear of intimacy and now have a relationship with a fantastic woman who loves me for everything that I am, and everything I am not.

The deeper thing that I got from my forum is that before I did the forum, I saw the world in black and white. I only saw color when I saw people, and treated people accordingly. What I got out of the Forum was that we really are all the same. We have the same needs and wants, regardless of culture and race. Because of that, I can now be with anyone (it’s really easy to do so when you know what every human being wants and needs in life).

This work has had a huge impact on my life. I am now giving back and helping to make a difference for other human beings on the planet.

This is the context in how I operate in the world: I am creating a world where there is transformation for all families. The possibility I’ve invented for myself and my life is the possibility of empowerment, strength, power and love for every man, woman and child. I also have a particular passion in transformation for people of African descent (which we all are in the end).

I requesting that you invite guests to my introduction at the forum. The context that I am creating is that of a party, and the guests are my best friends that I haven’t seen in a long time. Who I am to my guests is that I am the landmark forum representative.

If you live in NYC, great!! If you don’t live here, but you have people close to you that live in NYC, that’s great too. BTW, even if you or your guest don’t live in NYC, contact me anyway. I am always available if you have any questions.

If you would like to invite a guest, please email me and we will talk.

Take care,
Wess

Landmark is opening 6 new centers in China, wow! It cost one million dollars to open a center, the Forum leaders make less then a school teacher, they are a for profit business, but no one including the people at the top are making money, they just keep putting the money back into opening new centers.

They get that transformation is not just important, humanity needs it yesterday!

In Salt Lake City, Sandy just lead a forum of 170 people, we are really growing fast here, we are the only city that does not have a center that had such a large forum go on, they want to bring a center here soon!

Transformation, and Idea that needs action!

Best,
Tom

Paying it forward

I always avoid doing this because it can affect friendships, and its important for people to create their own money, to get the blind spots that are stopping them around money.

But people sponsored my curriculm for living, so I gave back, I enrolled some neighbors, the wife really wanted to do it, but they were stuck with money. I made sure that she really wanted it, then I called me wife, she said you give them the deposit right away! so I wrote out a check for money that I didnt have, well today I got two deals and created extra money, the universe gave it back to me.

The more I try to empty my cup, it fills up, no longer am I a cup is half full guy, I am a guy who trys to empty his cup cause in the next moment its going to fill up to the rim with something new and amazing, pushing to nothing every second to get everything and anything.

Anyways, money is so funny, they still have to come up with the rest of the money and now they get to look at money issues so that they can have abundance!!!

Pay it forward, make sure they know its a gift, no expected back, if they say they want to, tell them someday to pay it forward for someone else, it will come back to you anyways ten fold.

Transformation on the planet is so important, I used to get stuck on the money thing, I used to think, well they could pick up one of Alan Watts books on Zen Buddism and create their own transformation, but I missed what landmark is doing, now I know, its a million dollars to open a new center, all their profits are used up, no one is getting rich on the top, they are spending if forward to give this to us all, because when we all get it, we could save humanity, and its the final hour, and we need to be transformed to save the future for our children!!!

I am the possibility of communication and love, the act that I am giving up is that I need to fix the world, and that is who I am.

Amote, so mote it be

advanced course graduation speech, Tues. 13th 2005 in NY.

"Hi every one, how's every one doing this evening.

I 'd like to acknowledge all my fellow graduates for taking a stand for their family members, friends, and companion by inviting them and giving them a unique chance to come and join us in the ultimate game
of transformation.

I also would like to acknowledge all our guest who, just by being present tonight, already created for them self and their lives the possibilities of openness and love without having playing the game yet.

I'd like to acknowledge my self for being here tonight speaking to you and getting over my fear of speaking to a public.

My name is Guillaume Clave
I'm 36 years old, live in Brooklyn.
6 weeks ago, I was a smoker for the last 22 years, a looser for the past 34 years, an accidental tourist from the moment a got out of my mums womb.
Had no direction in life what so ever, sabotage my education as well as my family and romantic relationships and blaming every one else but me for my actions and the result of my actions. Not very charming neither very attractive for the people around me. It cost me my relation to love ones, my self esteem and my health.

Doing the landmark forum with commitment gave me the possibility to find in myself the power to stop smoking, to start giving a direction to my life by starting a business that will make a difference in other peoples life and signing up in school to become an holistic health counselor and a nutritionist. It also allowed me to make peace with my parents by reestablishing a communication with them: my Mum with who I did not speak in 2 years and my Dad who told me 4 times in all my life that he loved me, 3 out of those 4 were during the past 4 weeks.

But that's nothing compare to what the advanced course gave me.
What this course gave me is invaluable in the world of ordinary beings. It simply and beautifully gave me a life, my life, a life of infinite possibilities, but only as long as I'm committed to play the game.
From now on and ever, I'm in a committed relationship with my word and the world. Who I am is the possibility for forgiveness, acceptance and integrity and once I'll master those, a possibility for all possibilities. Who I was as an act before this course: a spoiled little
brat who had for unique mantra "I don't want it".
My relation to all human beings incorporates now the living of oneness, a unique quality of love that I experience every passing second. Understanding and experience of the magical true that there is
no you or love for you, she or love for she, me or love for me; but just us as one as one quality of love for all.
The rest in life, from money, to sex, to compliment are only goodies that you have to receive or not, give or not with acceptance but no expectation. But once you get there, goodies have a tendency to fell on you from everywhere. That's an other valuable side of how magical this education is.

Now I think you know what you all have to do to make a difference for yourself, your family, your friends, your community, our world. You have to come and play the game of trnsformation with us, and for that I invite you all to register in Landmark forum, a curriculum for a
living."

The graduation/registration night is actually tonight from 7pm to 10pm, so if you felt touched, moved and inspired by those words, I'll invite you to be present with us tonight. 317 A West 33rd Street
New York.

Thank you all for your listening.

Graduates Making a Difference

Hello Everyone. I'm a Course Supervisor out of the Los Angeles Center.
I have Copied several messages I have recieved that indicate the difference poeple who assist are making in supporting the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Please read them...and allow yourself to be inspired by the difference we all make and can make.

To: All Course Supervisors

I am receiving several updates from graduates who are working with survivors of Hurricane Katrina.

I know that the much of what is being discussed on radio and television programs around the world is the bad news – I am forwarding four seperate items in this email to let you know the difference graduates are making in the world. I will keep forwarding the miracles to you as I get them. If you don’t want this information, please reply and let me know……I will take you off the list.

****This first message is from Barbara Wilmeth, the Local Coordinator for Florida******

Hi, Allyn.

I've been in communication with Susan Bouet and Gabrielle Vasquez today.

A bunch of graduates are assisting at the Astrodome in Houston. Susan is

going to communicate with the CS team in Dallas about assisting up there.

Lori Melancon, a former CS from Houston is in Baton Rouge, where she

works for the Chamber of Commerce. We are that Course Supervisors can be

a huge asset in this situation.

This kind of logistics + need for partnership + being present + being

there for people is EXACTLY who Course Supervisors are! We're the ones

who stand, every Friday morning, in the face of no possibility and insist

that transformation is real, and no circumstance is bigger than the

possibility Human Being is. If ever there were an opportunity to be

developed, I'd say this is it.

I'd like for all of us (Course Supervisors) to be in communication as a

body - to make requests, and to report on what's getting accomplished.

Will you send a communication to all Course Supervisors to begin this?

I'm willing to collect stories and information, and communicate them back

out to our community.

***** This second email was forwarded to my from Bob Gordon, a Level 4 CS in Cincinatti *********

Dave Peterson is a Seminar Leader and Chuck Sutherland is an SELP Leader

You all should know that thousands of refugees from Hurricane Katrina are
streaming into Dallas. They are straining the city's resources and being
enveloped and embraced by the city. We have a remarkable story of the power
of networks of conversations blooming right under our noses. How's that for
cramming in clichés?

Dave Peterson, in last year's P&C, owns a hotel here with Chuck Sutherland.
Several dozen families (250+ people) made reservations before the storm hit
to flee New Orleans for a couple of days and then return to their homes with
maybe a few tree branches to clear out of the way. They have now been here a
week and their homes have disappeared. Dave and his staff are continuing to
make them at home at the hotel. And I really mean "make them at home," they
are being treated as paying guests, linen changes every day, complimentary
breakfast, etc. Also ---

Here is a really incomplete account of miracles generated by one network of
conversations:

A local Lion's Club donated $1000 cash to help with dinner. Staff and
volunteers are cooking and serving a meal each night to any guests who want.

Dozens of people have stepped forward (many of them strangers) to buy a room
night at the hotel for the guests from Katrina. Dave is charging the minimum
to cover operating expenses and working out the details with each family.
None of them want charity; they are all being responsible for their bills.

A large large Baptist church has adopted all the families. They have bought
new school supplies for all the children and outfitted them for their first
day of school (Tuesday) including new back packs.

Another large nondenominational church has welcomed the children who want to
attend a Christian school into their school. The hotel is providing van
transportation each day to school. Other children will attend Dallas public
schools. All the schools have waived any requirement for records and
documentation for the refugees.

A private boys' school rented a 15 foot box truck, drove to Sam's and filled
it with toiletries and drug store essentials and delivered it to the hotel
on Wednesday evening. Their gifts included buckets of laundry detergent. The
hotel is providing maid service to their guests and they were running short.
The boys also brought hundreds of lunch box meals for the refugees.

Three employment agencies have visited the hotel, gathering 60+ job apps.
Several of the residents have already gone to work.

Uncounted boxes of clothing, new and used, have arrived and been sorted for
everyone.

The Baptist church has invited all to a Play Day they created at their huge
downtown facility today (Saturday). Activities include a skating rink, games
and meals for all.

The local Sam's Warehouse is working with Dave by providing a 50% discount
on anything he needs.

A local high-end restaurant sent 200 burritos the size of small puppies for
dinner one night.

A resource center has been set up (by a LE Course Supervisor who would know
how to do that!) that has information about jobs, apartments, counseling,
etc.

A hotel near my house is having a free garage sale on Monday -- bring what
you can. If you have a Louisiana ID of any sort, you get to shop for free.

Hundreds of people have opened their homes to provide homes for the
refugees.

Dave's wife, Anne Peterson, the Wisdom Course leader, has been on-site for
the last several days, organizing efforts and supporting people. Of course
she is one heck of an admin! Dave's son Matthew and Anne's son Matthew are
also in the thick of it.

One of our community members has set up a website --- www.dfwcares.net --
that will list resources and people and family and needs and link to other
sites.

The list goes on and on. And I'm almost late for work.

It is very cool to watch an entire region-wide conversation coalesce and
move through the stages. Having a bunch of Landmark-trained people
concentrated in one part of that conversation has made a huge difference.

That’s all for now!
MarySue Foster
Dallas

**** This third message is from Bill Bratton, a Level 3 Course Supervisor in Kansas City *****

Hi,

If you are receiving this email it is because you are part of a group of people committed to making a difference.

I spoke with Carole who is coordinating the medical effort in the Houston Astrodome. There are several things that would make an enormous difference to the thousands of people in Houston. Please look to see are you that person who can help, or maybe you know someone who has these contacts.

1. Glucerna (known as ensure for diabetics) - this can be purchased from stores like Walgreens. There are an enormous number of people with diabetes and this product would make a difference. Maybe you would be willing to buy a case of the product and donate it to the relief effort?

2. D cylinder tanks - these are specific types of oxygen tanks, we would be looking for an oxygen supplier, perhaps a Apria healthcare or a Caremark, etc. who would be willing to donate these tanks.

3. If you are in the Chicagolandland area, I am looking for a temporary storage facility and some transportation (truck, van, suv) to get the supplies moved to O'Hare airport (hopefully).

4. I'm looking for team. People who would be willing to make calls to suppliers, be willing to help secure facilities for storage, etc. I'm looking to cause donated air transport of supplies to Houston from various locations. Are you one of those locations (need a larger airport) and would you be willing to be part of the team?

5. Medical personnel, especially at night, especially nurses. Housing would be provided and I'm sure we could feed you as well (not even the glucerna : )

6. Please forward this email to anyone who might be able to make a difference.

I can be reached at (312) 816-2417

Thanks and bless you for the courage it takes to jump into what's possible,

***** This last email is from a graduate in Minneapolis who is a friend of mine **********

I wanted to send you this email to let you know what some of your fellow Landmark Graduates are up to. This story I am about to tell you is all over the news today, it will be aired by every station, MPR, Star Tribune, and Pioneer Press. I wanted to let you know that it is fellow Landmark Graduates, who have are involved.

Michael Ditmer and I, were tired of watching everything happening in the news and wanted to do something. We found out about a group, Mission for Minnesota, who was going south to find people who wanted to relocate and decided we needed to jump in with them and do whatever was needed to organize the effort. When Michael called the organizer, Don Ball, he said, "Lisa and I have been yelling at the T.V. all week, and making everybody wrong, and decided to do something." Don stopped him and said, did you just say, "making everybody wrong?" Michael, said yes, and we found out that Don had just completed the Landmark Forum about a month ago and is in Pamela Morse's Integrity Seminar. I was so inspired, I was jumping up and down and almost started to cry.

The bus left Sat night for Houston. We had people in Houston who were trying to find people who wanted to relocate to MN. We had names of tons of people in MN who were offering their homes to refugees. Surprisingly, we found that people in Houston didn't want to leave as many had not found all their family members yet. However, when they heard we were headed north, many people asked for rides to other cities, so they could reconnect with relatives. We ended up with 40 people on the bus, 4 who wanted to relocate to MN, and the rest who wanted a ride north.

There was a group of people who needed to get to Chicago, and so Michael found someone to offer a 15 passenger van and drove with them yesterday from Mpls to Des Moines with clothes for all the people left on the bus. He met them in Des Moines and a restaurant offered them a free meal. Michael has been in charge of PR and had NBC there to film it. At that point they had 18 people left and they sat at two round tables and ate family style. The waiters and waitresses decided to donate their tip money and started to throw $1's and $5's on the table for the evacuees. Then the customers in the restaurant got inspired to do the same and started to throw down $10's and $20's. It was so moving and inspiring, the cameraman even started to cry. The van left for Chicago, and the big bus continued to Mpls.

The bus arrived at 12:30 last night.

There is a newly engaged couple who came, Troilyn and Dominique. They have worked for Target, and were volunteering for the elderly. They were on a rooftop in New Orleans for 5 days watching helicopters fly by before they were rescued. There were two other single adults who came as well. I found homes for everyone.

I just wanted to let you know all of this, because I know you will hear this story, and I just wanted to let you know that this happened because someone did the Landmark Forum, and got inspired to do something. Our website is www.missionfromminnesota.org.

I just heard from the volunteer coordinator at Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. Volunteers are needed from 2:30 p.m. to approximately 5:30 p.m. to help with clean-up at Cantiague Park in Hicksville on Long Island, and loading up trucks with such things as folding chairs, signs, cartons of snacks and water bottles, and unloading them at the House in New Hyde Park on Long Island.

Please reply if you can commit to all or any part of this request. Thanks very much.

Volunteer at SportsFest for Ronald McDonald House of Long Island

Hello,

I'm a recent graduate of the Advanced Course and also a member of the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island's Business Advisory Committee. I know we need volunteers at this Saturday's (9/10) day-long SportsFest at Cantiague Park on Long Island. I'm waiting to hear from the volunteer coordinator about the areas and how many people are needed in each area, but wanted to give a heads-up to all of you asking that you commit even a couple of hours during that day to help this organization that gives a home to families of hospitalized children NEAR the hospital where they're being treated. I'll post an update as soon as I have more information. It would be good to hear from those who are sincerely interested in helping out, so please reply with your own post. Thanks very much.

Creation of a Department of Peace!

Here's a great project for all of us who are committed to making a difference in our world! Do y'all know that we can have a Dept. of Peace just as we have a Dept. of Energy, Dept. of Transportation, Dept. of Health & Welfare, etc.? Well we can. Congress will be voting on it on Sept. 14. If you stand for peace in our world, please write or call your Senators and Representatives real soon and urge them to vote in favor of a governmental Department of Peace.
On being a light

Here's a beautiful message on Being a Light - goto www.lightmovie.com - turn
up your speakers and enjoy the words and music.

Here are the words - to the message:

You are the Light of the World

.and as such you are here to use your light to heal, transform and
transfigure anything unlike peace, love, harmony and goodwill.

That we all may have moments of peace
.and more peace.

Rather than impose your will upon conditions of lack, disease, or suffering
choose instead to think, feel and emote from an outcome in which anything
unlike what is preferred simply does not exist.

It cannot exist in your experience if you decide not to entertain it.

In doing so, you create a Quantum overlay of preferred possibilities and
probable futures.
You are the Light of the World.

You do not need the world's permission to shine your light upon the dark.

The light releases you from joining others in seductive, lower energy
vibrations. Use your light to simply transform lower energies.

This is how you heal yourself and the world. This is how you create moments
of peace.And more peace still.

Light cannot injure light
Light is injured by nothing.

Light heals all.

In the midst of shining your light
you are immune to lower energies.

You don't heal people by getting them to "get it."
You don't heal unwanted situations with people by "teaching them a lesson."

Just stand in the midst of all that you resist and instead of letting
judgement take over, put your entire focus upon the light. The light will
prevail.

You don't have to do anything more than this.

Bringing peace to the world is what your are here to do. Just shine your
light.

You know where your inner light switch is .Turn it on!

You heal and transform the entire world around you by turning ON your light.

You don't have to warn the darkness that you are coming with the light.

Just shine your light.

You are the light of the world.

And so it is.

Landmark idea applied to the Burningman event

I heard someone say that burningman was old, but I still love what's being done out there!

The Burningman Project started by Larry Harvey as a direct result of his life falling apart, his marriage, job, life failed, so he made an art representation of his life and burned it on a beach in the bay area (CA), later the burn moved to the playa in Nevada.

The act of burning ones artistic art/beliefs/values/life/past, allows for a new realm of possibilty to be created. Our beliefs and values are what hold us back in life because they hold us in the past, they stop us from creating new art and possibility. An artist is more powerful when he/she learns to let go of the past, burn it, and declare with words/art a new realm of possibilty that was never in existence before.

Many people have given the burn their own meaning, I once saw a group of woman feminist that didnt like men, make it mean "burn a man" quite literally. As humans, we are meaning making machines, but life is meaningless and empty and its meaningless and empty that life is meaningless and empty. Life may have meaning, but our assumption and ego's seem to create something totally different then the raw truth, we make these interpretations and demand that the world conforms. But life doesn't care, sad thing is that we are destroying our planet and killing each other based on these assumption that we demand everyone to follow.

The burningman project is also about finding a new transformed way of being for our planet, living in a dead lake bed and thriving is all about creating possibility in the face of nothing, tabula rasa, or a blank slate. And dare I say, Its the only space that possibilty can be created.

Just wanted to share the Burningman dream for those of you who have not heard the purpose. www.burningman.com

Remember the four agreements:
Be true to your word with goodness
Don't take anything personal
Don't assume
Do your best

Focus with me this into reality, I only ask for our affirmation of its existence in your thought

SELP project and 100 monkey thought work...

Focus with me this into reality, I only ask for our affirmation of its existence in your thought

I am reaching here on the mystery side, its an enrollment conversation, but not a registration one, its just a wish in your thought that I suceed to make a difference for these people.

My project is called "Dignity Depends On Us"

I am taking on a need for a group home in Utah called Rise, Inc. The individuals in this care center suffer from metal retardation and disabilities. Some of its members have no financial support to acquire some basic sanitary needs, some have so little money that their basic needs are put off.

I have contacted Wal-Mart and Target to attempt to get a donation from local stores in this area to acquire Depends pull up diapers, Sanitary Wipes, and plastic gloves. These items are also not placed in the pharmacy in many store, thus they do not qualify for Medicare because of this.

I would like to supply a year supply for 50 individuals of these items. It’s a dirty job, but someone has to give these people the dignity and help them with these basic items to meet their sanitary needs.

I am asking for help of donations and money, and people to find a way to supply these items for this group of people.

Its a not for profit organization, so its a tax write off, their tax status is 501 (c) 3, I think that’s the right code, but basically any company that donates to this cause will get a tax write off.

Please contact me, if you can help, and thank you.

hey beautiful people!

i'm delighted to say that i'm returning to the work after nearly a year hiatus. i completed the wisdom course in january and chose to discontinue coursework for a while just to see what my life would look like without my direct participation with landmark education. it's been an amazing experiment. i really got the opportunity to experience my community and myself as source of transformation. my friends are the best. seriously. amazing. creatures.

now i'm ready to take on coursework again. simply because i love being In It. deep in it. rolling around in every juicy morsel of it.

i wanted to register in the causing the miraculous seminar the moment i heard about it, but created a story that a seminar wasn't big enough for me. ha! like causing miracles isn't big!

so, i'm calling in the morning to put myself in the seminar.

anyone else doing causing the miraculous in the valley? it's always great to 3d tribe.

love kt

Fear and the worst case scenario

I just signed today to have a new single family home built in D.C. Now, you California folks might be calling me a wimp, but I'm paying a lot for an East Coast house and it's more than a small stretch for my financial situation ...

I've taken the Landmark Forum, the Landmark Advanced Course and am currently taking the SELP. I know my Act and I know how to generate myself as a possibility. I've been generating myself as the possiblity of confidence and decisiveness (every five minutes), but I kept finding myself being "the deer in the headlights".

The story I've been living into is the worst-case-scenario: something like this: interest rates will go up and house prices will fall between the time I sign the contract and the time I move in and I will lose a pile of money. I've had to constantly remind myself that it could go the other way and I could do well instead. So today I sucked it up and just did it. I went and signed the papers.

I seem to have an inauthenticity in this area about having faith that the really big decision will go my way and not the way of the worst-case-scenario. Let's see:
I'm pretending to be confident and strong.
I'm hiding that I'm scared to death that I'm going to get taken to the cleaners in this house transaction like I did in the stock market a few years ago.
The impact on me is I've been burning a lot of energy worrying about what might happen.
The impact on my wife is she has been stressing instead of just being able to trust that I know what I'm doing.
The victory over the past is that I made this huge decision and I didn't let the past determine my future.

The possiblity I'm creating for myself and my life is the possibility of being a happy homeowner.

I'm wondering if the folks who are really successful at big things (Donald Trump, Bill Gates) are able to put aside the worst case scenario and act without fear knowing that the outcome will most likely be something between the best case scenario and the worst case scenario.

A conversation about God in the context of Landmark

Hi there, all you folks who are more enlightened than average...

I did my Landmark Advanced Course in D.C. a few weeks ago and I'm having a blast. Who I am is the possiblity of fun. The act I'm giving up is "I don't need you"... The course opened my eyes to ways I was being and new possibilities are popping up everywhere. I'm enrolling everybody I know in my possiblity and letting them know the act I'm giving up.

Let me say at this point that I'm not trying to promote my beliefs, I just trying to share who I am. I'm trying to reconcile my relationship with God and figure out my place in the communities of:
my family (my wife is fairly conservative Catholic)
my local church (many different kinds of Catholics who choose to be in my parish)
my local community (Northern Virginia has LOTS of different folks)
my Landmark community of friends (many people who are more enlighted than average)
my religion (Roman Catholic...Christianity, LOTS of different ways to "be Catholic")
my beliefs (I believe there is a God and that Jesus is God, LOTS of ways to believe in God)
my humanity (we're all connected, regardless of faith)
my place in the possiblity of there being other intelligent life in the universe (if you stipulate we are intelligent)

Now I've spent considerable time and effort over the years trying to "figure out" God. I've come to a place where I have made a commitment to being a Catholic. I came to this after I realized the existence of God can't be proved or disproved. I decided to stop trying to figure God out and chose to believe. The way this shows up is I choose to be in the Catholic community and, to the best of my ability, observe the teachings of Jesus and the Catholic Church. So, part of this is trying to reconcile Landmark's teachings with those of Jesus. For me, at this point, they are very similar. I've read through the Christian scriptures a few times (we call it the "New Testament"). There were a few times when Jesus ran rackets (mostly on the Pharisees). He forgave those who harmed him. He did a lot of really cool stuff. I see Jesus as one of the best possibility creators and enrollers of all time. In my readings, I also see LOTS of times when Paul and the other apostles ran rackets...

I'm looking for open-minded folks to share with about this. I don't really care what your faith is because I think I can learn from you as long as you don't try to run rackets on me. I've tried the Catholic and Jewish chat rooms in Yahoo, but all I find there are closed-minded people yelling at each other (it's fun to watch for a while :). I created a Yahoo group for my advanced course class, but only about half the class joined and about five folks are on the court :(. Sadly, I see most of my Advanced Course buddies either slipping back into their old ways of being, or being too busy with their possibilities to stay in touch. I realize this is a big topic and I hope people will have lots to say. I'm still looking for a much more effective vehicle than this kind of venue to have this kind of conversation.
Possibility of Love and Communication

The act/ego that I am giving up is that I need to fix the world.

The possibility that I am inventing for myself and my life is Love and Communication in the world.

I realized that I needed to quit smoking cigretts because it was not in line with my possibility of love, I can't put out love in the world if I am not doing loving action to my body.

So I quit, I quit using the patch, the gum, the inhaler, I quit quitting.

I am taking it one day at a time.

I am on day 7, the toxin is gone

I only have my word, if I break my word I simply need to get complete with those people who I broke my word with and stop smoking again, invent the possibility again, but I am my word.

My word is that I will not even pick up one smoke, not one drag.

I am done with quitting, I am done with the past, I am nicotine free and will stay that way for my daughters, for myself, for the people in my life.

I have created a web group in Utah with over 100 monkies on it to keep communication, enrollement and registration alive here.

and that is who I am

Love you guys! Sending out the power of love, authenticity and mind over matter! And the power of declaration

Hi All~

First off, my name is Tena and I'm located in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I just moved here from San Francisco. My intention in moving was more sunshine, more space and to relax, modify my current lifestyle and connect with the holistic/spirituality community here.

Have I ever! : )

I found a magazine in a coffee shop that I LOVED...I emailed the editor and set up a meeting with her. I'd never heard of the Landmark Forum, but she, Jen Pilla, informed me of her experience and how she was inspired to begin this magazine after a Landmark Course. I want to promote this magazine to everyone on Earth - it is sooo amazing. Articles on communication, creating the life you want, Kabbalah, Zen, Raw Food, etc., etc., etc.!

I immediately began writing for her and now I'm helping out in her home office two days a week. I'm also doing advertising and finally making a living by working on something that inspires me every single moment of the day.

This past Wed. my partner and I went to our first Landmark Introduction and signed up for a Sept. event. I am excited!!!

I thought that out of all the people in the world, those into Landmark might be the most interested in what Being Magazine is doing: http://www.beingmagazine.com. She inserts a Landmark ad for free into every single issue.

If you want more info, please don't hesititate to contact me.

ENJOY & THANKS!
Re: The Anti-Manipulation Posting

I had seen a posting where the person was talking about manipulating others as though it's a bad thing. I myself would be nowhere in the world were it not for sheer and utterly manipulation, guilt-tripping and silent treatments. I say we should all be proactively manipulative. My speciality is passive-aggressive hostily as a way of inducing self-loathing in others. It is only when I can get people to a solid place of self-loathing that they become solidly usable material for my own selfish puposes. One has to basically reject self-confident people right out of the gate, since they'll always demand fair terms and equal consideration. Hey, how's a guy to make a solid profit in this world by being fair. All the real winners I know are seasoned crooks working just within the furtherst margins of the law. That's another thing: one needs to manipulate public opinion, or be ready to, if the someone tips off the press. As for myself, I keep a press agent. His favorite line, which, by the way, is always true, is to say, "We have not violated the law in any way." What he fails to mention is that the laws are so crooked that one can be a total con man and still actually not violate a single law. Oh God do I love Capitalism. But that's another thread for another time.

The Borg way of operating in the world

I did my Landmark Advanced Course last month. I've discovered an entirely new way to operate. In the past, my strong suits were "Capable", "Get the Job Done", "Problem Solver", "Task-oriented". I was Mr. Spock on most projects, doing it myself because I didn't need anybody. My old way of getting somebody to do something was to tell them what to do. "I need you to do X by Y time".

Now, I sort of have this Borg thing going. I share my brains out with anybody who will listen. I don't ask them for any answers, I just ask them to listen. As a matter of fact, it works better if they can't immediately provide an answer and I don't tell them exactly what I (think I) want. I share where I am and a possibility and leave an open space. Many times, it's not even the person I shared with. Take a look at:
http://joefunva.blogspot.com/2005/04/finding-milk-for-steven.html

This has been working everywhere. If I share more and try less, I get more...

I'm still trying to figure it out.

course, that is.

We have weekend 2 tomorrow, and the city team met tonight. On the board, amongst other things, were these words:

complacency
resignation
cynical
normal

we didn't talk about this stuff, it just loomed there like a bad smell. As the evening business went on I let those words sink in and saw the degree to which I let these things run my days; they've become a habit! It's been like that for a couple years now. and I am ready to shift it now that I can see it.
The weekend is held in the idea that "life is great and all is well"... I'll tell you how it goes, and I'm exited to see what i, my participants and the community gets this weekend!

creating the possibility of Peru with 4 days left impossible? no way!

So I want to go to Peru to study with shamans and become apprenticed and I will get credit from my college via a photo journal. This is in reference to my larger project: a documentary film. My major is Humanities with emphasis in Art and Social Change. I love this college! (http://www.newcollege.edu)

Ans so I found this great group called Blue Morpho. (http://www.bluemorphotours.com) They offer authentic experiences for people who want to do their work and become apprenticed.

We will be interacting and learning from the plant medicine Ayuhuasca.

I want to learn the following three things from the spirit Ayuhuasca.

To have direct experience/knowledge of past life regression in that I will have proof or disproof for reincarnation theory.

To learn how to hold this reality and juggle others i.e. dream states.

Become an apprenticed shaman in that I may do my work here and help people in this country. Upon completion I have also been invited to do my work with the Santo Daime Church.

To do this I need 700 more dollars for the plane ticket. The total cost is over $1000 of which I have paid. Now I just have to get the plane ticket. I have this money and it is not accessible to me yet. What do I mean by this? I am in the IATSE union local 16 (stage hand union). It’s great! I make a lot of money and I love what I do. The drag is that I get paid sometimes a month after I’ve finished work on a particular show. Show biz payroll- Blah! So I did a bunch of shows the first week of June, which is more than $700 coming in the mail. It hasn’t come yet and I suspect I won’t get the checks before the 19th of June. However, I will have that money when I get back which is July 2nd. I’m going to be in Iquitos, Peru from June 19th to July 2nd. When I get back the checks will be here and I’ll go deposit them and give the patron a personal or certified check or cash. Now to just find a patron

how did you hear about landmark?

the conversations about enrollment vs. sales tactics make me wonder how those in this tribe first heard about landmark and what it took for them to register.

i had a business lunch with a client, and we started talking about our lives. she told me about doing this course that allowed her to see that she'd been blaming her mother for her dad leaving them for the past 20 years, and she realized that in fact, it wasn't her fault. she called her, and their whole relationship shifted, and she got to have a new relationship with her mom.

that totally made me happy, and i wanted some of that kind of insight. i told her i wanted to register on the spot, and when i got back to work, she called me with the information i needed. the choice was easier because i was getting a fat tax refund, so i knew i could afford it.

funny, though, that a few days later i got a letter from the iRS saying they'd applied my refund to a tax debt from my ex-husband from the last year we were married -- and i panicked, but since i was already committed, lo and behold, i found a way to pay for it.

damned glad i did ;^)

who told you about the landmark forum, and what did it take for you to register?

I'm starting this new thread because I think it will be an interesting thread:

I'd like to put something out there on current events. I'd like to know what you guys think about the Pope.

In my opinion(IMO): I'm Catholic and John Paul II was an awesome Pope. He spent his life bringing people together and taking a stand for what he thought was important (utter respect for life, respect for marriage, respect for other faiths...). This stand was not popular, but I've chosen to observe the teachings of the Church because I choose to be Catholic.

This story inspired me especially because the media seems to focus so much on "bad news":

My first miracle, and then another....

Hi Y'all!
So I just wanted to share what happened to me after "Causing the Miraculous" in LA last month. It all happened so fast that my head is still spinning...First, my younger brother - who has been so unhappyand miserablly lost in his life in Mass. has decided to move out here and live with me for awhile. He has even been to a Landmark intro and is considering it once he gets real employment . He was such a lost soul and I always prayed for a way to help him, but i never thought he would come west. So... I am helping him find himself and some new friends that wil be supportive . Thanks to my burner friends who are so generously loving and accepting - he is now a happy man for thr first time in years!

My next miracle - after creating a possibility of success and creative fulfillment - I was let go from my job with no notice or reason- and have just incorporated a new business of my own! I am now doing consulting, design and managing production for digitally printed decor for residential and commercial applications . (canvas wall murals, sets, and photographic tiles for interior and exterior) Now that is a miracle - it all happened in the month follwing that seminar ! Now if only my last possibility would manifest - that special man is out there somewhere...

Would love to hear how others have experienced life after that special seminar!!

loveandlight,

What's your relationship with money?

Hey,

I had a conversation yesterday with a friend. He went to a course which he said was similar to Landmark (but a lot more expensive...). He said it was about how our relationship with money is the same as all of our relationships. I do see how money is easy to measure and if the above statement is true, could help us to see how less tangible relationships work (people, jobs, God, ...). What would an accountant's relationship with money say? A monk? A homeless person? A wealthy person?

I have to say this seems like a chair in front of my face. I just don't see it. The act I'm giving up is "I don't need you". I realize I need money. So, either my act isn't big enough, or this money thing doesn't work.
empty and meaningless sexuality

I'm a little timid about this, but i want to share a powerful breakthrough I am in the midst of.

My whole life I've been rejecting myself on the basis of my sexuality. believing that I am some kind of unforgivable slut because I am capable of having sex outside of "loving, committed, relationship" believing, in fact that I am never going to be able to really succeed in "loving, committed relationship" because I am so "tainted" and thinking that I either have to completely change who I am and have been, or hide it.

lately, I've been engaged in trying to change it.
I've been "being good" so that I'd be "worthy" when the right man came along.

Until last night when I "blew it" (again)
Lucky for me, my "pal" was able to totally be with me when i sank immediately into self loathing, and self rejection, and my story that I'd never be worthy of love. He gently pointed out that it's probably my very rejection of myself as being someone who has sex with more or less strangers, that keeps me having sex with more or less strangers. (what you resist persists) and stroked my hair tenderly until I stopped crying.
This morning when I woke up, I was able to see something I hadn't seen before, that my rejection of my sexuality and my history, and all the meaning I put on it, keeps me from being able to really be with myself, or anyone else. and that the huge missing is freedom and acceptance. That if I could really be with all aspects of myself, free of that punishing judgement, that rejection, that I would be able to be completely present, completely able to love and be with anyone.

I also saw that I may not be alone in this feeling of unworthiness and the longing to be really known, and loved anyway. That by providing this for myself, the whole world (all the parts I touch, anyway) could experience a freedom and acceptance and experience of love which is really like a new REALM of possibility.

The space this opens up is so HUGE, I'm having a hard time grasping or expressing it. It's like being let out of jail.

The possibility I am inventing for myself and my life, is the possibility of being free, being accepting and being open with myself and others.

Thank you for listening.
Landmark is not spiritual...?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this tribe. I was just reading one of the threads and noticed a mention that Landmark isn't spiritual. I've heard lots of people complain about that over the years. (I participated for ten years straight with rare breaks of only a month or two. I did almost everything they offered.) Anyway, for me, it was absolutely spiritual in that I saw it lift people's spirits so far that they even looked ten years younger! How more spiritual can you get?!! It totally transforms spirits! That's the essence of spiritual, to me. It has nothing to do with the words used--it's true, they do not speak in spiritual terminology.

I remember when I was new to Landmark and had only done the Forum. I was recruited to go to Santa Rosa and assist for 8 days in producing a now-discontinued course called the "Six-Day." That course cost something like $900 at the time. It later went for $1200, if I remember correctly. Well I was pissed off that they charged so much for any course and told myself I'd never pay that. But in being there and assisting for eight days, I saw the participants' faces every day in the dining hall (my job was food prep). I saw them coming to life and I saw their actual, physical faces and bodies becoming younger and more vibrant. Their spirits were set free! It was so compelling to me, just seeing that, that I jumped right in and forked over the moolah! I just had to have what they had.

And while assisting in that course, I learned one of the most profound lessons of my life. I learned the depth of my love for human beings--even strangers I've never met. It was a deeply profound and spiritual experience of who I am in the world! That to me was priceless.

By the way, I've always gotten far more out of assisting in the courses--I mean volunteering to work--than I got out of the courses themselves.

Cheers!

Funny how when you get heavily at stake in a seminar structure your life kicks into turbo.
I am loving this Relationships seminar. I took on group leader and communicator and I'm getting my transformational chops back, along with the capacities I expanded while away from the work. Completions are falling into dissapeared conversations all around me with ease and love.
Nice to be back home on the court. Who else is flourishing in a program/seminar/structure?

Yeah! (sticks head out of cave) about that ILP.....

Alright alright I guess this is an opportunity for me to get off it. Seeing you guys on here gives me inspiration.
So I'm relativley new to SF. I moved here in Sept to go to school. I have not been to Landmark since. I have been a Production Supervisor in LA for the forum and Integrity seminar. I did a great job and was invited to be in the ILP. "cool yeah whatever" I said as I was packing my stuff for Burning Man in August. I have since completed the application and spoken to people in LA (Kevin Dashner, Jason Landau) who told me to speak with people in SF as I would be doing it here. I'm realizing how on it I am right now. Im totally disempowered:
1) I dont know where the office is (easily found on the web)
2) I feel weird because I dont have my support structure in SF.(possible reason for writting this)
3) I am still looking for a job to be able to pay for the ILP ~$500? (any leads?)

*realization*
Man, I've not left the house in three days. okay then I'm going to go take a shower and go to temple on Carl st.
you know I really got to get out of my head (another purpose for writing this)
